Proclaiming His Seasons

A new season is fast approaching. And as every year passes, our Creator places on our family’s hearts the will of so wanting to embrace His seasons even more. I had a few things on my heart with regards to our Creator's seasons which I wanted to share with whomever has an ear to hear.

Some Thoughts on His Seasons
When we talk of the word seasons, it can easily be interpreted as the four seasons of the year, spring, summer, fall and winter. The first time scripture mentions ‘seasons’ is Genesis 1:14 (KJV).

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the
heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs,
and for seasons, and for days, and years:

H4150 ~ The Hebrew word for ‘seasons’ is moedim (mô‛êd mô‛êd mô‛âdâh )
From H3259; properly an appointment, that is, a fixed time or season; specifically a festival; conventionally a year; by implication, an assembly (as convened for a definite purpose); technically the congregation; by extension, the place of meeting; also a signal (as appointed beforehand): - appointed (sign, time), (place of, solemn) assembly, congregation, (set, solemn) feast, (appointed, due) season, solemn (-ity), synagogue, (set) time (appointed).

When I looked at the Feasts of YHWH (God), I also found the same Hebrew translation for ‘seasons’ (or ‘appointed’) as mentioned above in the following verse:  Simply click on the scripture to read the KJV translation.

Exodus 13:10
And you shall guard this law at its appointed time from year to year.(Scriptures)

Exodus 23:15
Guard the Festival of Unleavened Bread. Seven days you eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month of Aḇiḇ – for in it you came out of Mitsrayim – and do not appear before Me empty-handed; (Scriptures)

Leviticus 23:4
hese are the appointed times of יהוה, set-apart gatherings which you are to proclaim at their appointed times. (Scriptures)

Numbers 9:2
These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.(Scriptures)

What is so amazing is that these feasts are His (God's) feasts. Nobody can claim these seasons as their their own. Our heavenly Father made known of His seasons for mankind from the beginning of His creation. We so look forward to; Pesach (Passover), the Matza (Days of Unleaven Bread) and the Bikkurim (First Fruits), His first appointed times of the Hebrew year in the month of Abib(Also known as Nisan). It is a time to reflect on our ancestors who were granted deliverance out of Egypt  after crying out.  Exodus 3:7  states  "And YHWH (the LORD) said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows."  They  stayed  into the wilderness where YHWH continually worked with them to rid themselves of their pagan ways. Evidence shows us how stubborn mankind can be when ridding themselves of their fleshly ways. He knows us, He created us.  We obviously need help and can't expect to become a changed person overnight. It gives me such great comfort knowing that He doesn’t give up on us. This season is also a time for us to remember than in no way are we able to deliver ourselves from our sinful ways. As we observe Pesach (Passover) we are  reminded that YHWH (God) sent His Son Yeshua (Jesus) as our savior and deliverer. He is our perfect example of what it means to continue to follow His Father's Way.  He fulfilled everything exactly how He was supposed to according to His Father and now we can follow our Messiah. In Shaul (Paul), he gives us guidance to observe the Appointed days (Pesach and Mitzah in sincerity and truth, with the right attitude, as some were obviously not observing them properly after the death of Yeshua.

Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the
entire lump? Therefore cleanse out the old leaven, so that you are a new lump, as you
are unleavened. For also Messiah our Passover was offered for us. So then let us observe
the festival, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of evil and wickedness, but with
the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 1 Corinthians 5:6-8

Some Preparations for His Spring Feasts at our Home
And so here we are once again with this season soon upon us. As we are in the beginning stages of cleaning our home of all the leavening, we are also taking the opportunity of taking care of other cleaning. A short non detailed list of what is starting to take place here:

  • Declutter and rid of items we are no longer needing (I love decluttering, for me less means more!, I usually do this on a regular basis)
  • Go through children’s homeschool books, sell items to prepare for next school season, a great  opportunity to rid of ungodly books or items around the house which we may have not previously recognized. As we mature spiritually, our path get narrower, Such freedom to know our choices are made for us!
  • Clean every room, vacuuming under beds, in sofas, closets, etc.
  • Kitchen cleaning includes stove, refrigerator, pantry, drawers and cupboards, etc., anywhere where food is stored or eaten.
  • Revisit children’s clothing to see what no longer fits
  • Declutter garage and reorganize
  • Cleaning of the vehicles.

We know that however much we clean, there is absolutely no way we can rid of all leavening (sin). We’ve been doing this yearly unleavening for many years and I can vouch for things we found after the week has passed. This once again is a reminder of how we need our Messiah daily to help us in our daily walk. He is our Bread of life This time of cleaning is also a time of reflection on our own life this past year. It is a time I spend with YHWH (God) in hearing his special words for me personally. A time where He can show me hidden sins that I need to deal with.

Our journey may sometimes take us on what looks like 'a different path' than another believer who also observes His Appointed times and for our family personally, our journey has changed yearly.  We are still babes and are constantly learning and maturing as we strive to please YHWH (God) in obeying Him and feeling His love deep in our hearts and souls.  Let us remember to always pray for one another.

We are sharing a blog hop where you may find helpful information on Pesach, Matzah.  There is also a link for unleaven recipes.  Please email us with any other questions.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing! This is our first full year of celebrating Biblical feasts. I am looking forward to celebrating each of YHWH's appointed times. Thank you for the ideas for preparation of the Feasts. I will definitely do some preparation and cleaning.
