YOGA Uncoiled

Exercise can come in many forms and has many benefits to the body YHVH/God has given us.  Staying healthy not only includes healthy eating habits, it also includes physical movement of the body.  Our family tries to exercise regularly.  Outside exercise, such as a good hike, weather permitting is obviously more enjoyable for me than being indoors. It is without saying though that we do use the Rebounder almost every day.  And rest on Shabbat, the seventh day.  I still hold on to the idea that good exericise comes from hard physical work around or outside of the house, whether it be house cleaning, yard work or other labor intense physical activity.

A while ago, someone shared a form of exercise which I had already given up due to the findings of it's pagan origins.  Another friend just recently shared these videos and I thought I would share them with you.  Have you ever wondered about the origins of Yoga?  Please watch this two part series where you will learn some insightful information.  Do we who are YHVH's children have the right to Christianize something not of Him?

Do you exercise?  If so, what kind of exercise do you and your family do?

And let endurance have a perfect work,
so that you be perfect and complete, lacking in naught.

  1. We walk a LOT! I love your question about Christian-izing something that is not of HIM. We should not...and must not, but many do! Thanks for the videos.

  2. If you compromise in one area, it is easy to compromise in others.... I stopped doing Yoga for the same reasons.

  3. Thanks for the videos. What about Praise Moves? I have looked at some of Laurette Willis' stuff and was wondering...I like the poses as far as the way it makes my body feel strong, flexible, energized and relaxed. Is there anything else out there similar?

  4. Shalom Carmen,
    Great post!!!!
I have never done Yoga, even before I knew of it's origins, it gave me the creeps! I like to walk, I bounce(on a large exercise ball, because we had to sell our rebounder) and lift some weights(2-5 pounds)for strength.

Christianizing~Yikes!! Definitely NOT a good idea!!!! HIS word is clear:
Isa 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (WOE!!!)

    Shalom Shalom my sweet friend!

  5. Anonymous. Praise Moves seems to take the stance against Yoga or even christianizing Yoga. I have never viewed their workout videos so I'm not sure what it all entails. It seems to me they are staying away from anything pagan. Their focus is to praise our heavenly Creator. I saw they have moves to form Hebrew letters. That is neat. These DVDs might be something to research some more. I personally prefer do a lot of stretching exercises because I also feel very energized and relaxed. There are books which cover only stretching exercises for all part of the body. I found good exercises in the book 'Escape Your Shape'--it is geared toward certain exercises for certain body shapes.
