Shabbat Shalom Link Up ~ His Ways are Perfect

Pebble Crossing

Shabbat is upon us once again.  YHVH is faithful and true to His promises.  We are so grateful for His day of rest that He has given us.  May we continue to pray for each other as we learn to rest and worship Yah in His ways. His ways are perfect, His ways are everlasting.
He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
Tehillim/Psalm 103:7

They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.
Tehellim/Psalm 119:3

A Song of degrees. Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD;
that walketh in his ways. Tehillim/Psalm 128:1

The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.
Tehillim/Psalm 145:17

And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.  Isaiah 2:3

First Things First!

Written by Jeannie Fulbright

(This article was such a delight to read and very encouraging to homeschooling moms that I wanted our readers to have the opportunity to read too!)

I began my homeschooling journey with a deep conviction that this was God's call upon my family. Many of you felt that same calling. You knew that God had a great plan for your children's life and He wanted to lead you as you guide their spiritual and academic development. God hand picked you to be their parents, and no teacher could love them, nurture them or would care about their success more than you. No teacher, except you, could early-on pinpoint their unique talents and gifts and be able to nurture them while still lovingly helping them with their weaknesses. You were uniquely positioned to be a devoted teacher, spiritual mentor and coach for these children which God has given you.

Shabbat Shalom Link Up ~ Let's Pray Let's Praise!

Pebble Crossing

Could it be that many more are turning to our Heavenly Creator being faced with such difficult situations and hardships?  Could it be that we are found more on our knees crying out to Him? It is obvious that this nation is faced with hard economic times, something that our parents and grandparents may have experienced but specifically not this generation.  If you are not currently faced with difficulties, you know someone who is.  In the midst of our trials and difficulties it is easy to loose sight of what provision we have been given.  Fear (not of God) will do that to you, it will make everything look worse than what it really is. If we are focusing on the world's standard's, we will feel like a failure.  Yes I understand that it may be hard at times to stay positive, I have experienced it.  After many years of struggling with my thoughts, Yah should me that we can control our thoughts, however hard sometimes it may be.  The enemy will continue to make us believe lies that our Creator is not there for us.  Staying in the Word reading scripture, living on it as our daily bread will help remind us how sovereign YHVH/God is true to His promises that He is there all the time and that he does not forsake us.  He will provide and continues to provide for our needs daily, yes many times He provides us with patience and gratefulness as we wait for answers, How great He is. Often times it is our lack of understanding that can cause us unrestfulness and stress as life may unravel in a totally different direction than we envisioned.  Our family refers to Romans 8:28 so often, it gives us comfort.  And we know that all matters work together for good to those who love Elohim, to those who are called according to His purpose. When we continue to place YHVH/God in the center of our lives, we are reminded that we are living for Him and not for ourselves.  Our perspective is renewed daily.   We are reminded that we want to be a living sacrifice for God, doing His will, His work.

May it be that we go to Him during times of trouble praying and praising YHVH/God for who He.  May we tell Him that we love Him so, that we love Yeshua for loving us first.  May we pray with faith not with doubt.

Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray,
and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
Tehillim/Psalm 55:17

Yah is my strength and song, and He has become my deliverance.
He is my Ěl, and I praise Him – Elohim of my father, and I exalt Him.
Sh'mot/Exodus 15:2

YHVH Loves you!

Drying Rosemary Simply

We've been blessed with much rosemary these past years.  When we first moved in, I decided to plant the rosemary bush close to the front entrance.  We've enjoyed the wonderful aroma from the rosemary as well using it in our food preparations.  To name a few, we use this herb in our herbed Challah, pizza dough, meat dishes and scrambled eggs.

Spinach Green Smoothie

After a good exercise session in the morning, we all enjoy a healthy smoothie.  Green smoothies starts our day with much needed healthy fuel that gives us a good jump start to keep us moving at a good pace.  This smoothie I'm sharing is very simple which includes only a few ingredients, namely a lot of spinach.

Ingredients
  • 4 cups spinach, approximately
  • 4 ripe bananas (can use frozen)
  • 3-4 cups strawberries (can use frozen)
  • 1/4 ground flax seed
  • 1 to 1 1-2 cups water
  • 1/2 Rejuvalac* (optional)

Directions
Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth.  If you are using frozen fruit, blending always works best when adding frozen fruit after blending other ingredients with liquid.  Simply add frozen strawberries and/or frozen bananas  and blend well.  Adjust the ingredients as per your preferences but remember spinach is a key ingredient.

Yields enough for at least 5 good size glasses full.

*I'll be posting about Rejuvalac and the benefits real soon!

And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses. Nehemiah 4:14

Water Fluoridation~Is it Safe?

Are you and your family currently learning about the effects of water fluoridation?    Did you know that the United States continues to fluoridate most of its water supply and other countries have chosen not to?  Informing ourselves and being in prayer with our Heavenly Father will help us make the best decision for our families.

Here is a short video to watch which is FREE for a limited time only.  Dr. Mercola also shares other important information in his post. You can read it here.

We currently have a water filtration in place as well as shower filters to help control the fluoridation. We also use made our own homemade toothpaste as well as purchased non fluoridated brands.

Have you already made changes to avoid fluoridation? If so what changes can you share with our readers?

Shabbat Shalom Link Up ~ Let Go

Pebble Crossing

Shabbat Shalom to all of you! YHVH's/God's  day of rest is such a blessed day more than we can every realize.  YHVH is always thinking of us constantly.  He knew we needed this day.  A day of rest to worship Him for all that He has done for us and continues to do so.  Are you feeling weary and run down?  Here's a song for you 'Let Go' by Teshuva.   It's time to let go and give up the fight, He is waiting for you!

יהוה/LORD, who does sojourn in Your Tent?
Who does dwell in Your set-apart mountain?
He who walks blamelessly, And does righteousness,
And speaks the truth in his heart.
He has not slandered with his tongue,
He has not done evil to his neighbour,
Nor lifted up a reproach against his friend;
In whose eyes a reprobate one is despised,
But he esteems those who fear יהוה/the LORD;
He who swears to his own hurt and does not change;
He has not put out his silver at interest,
And has not taken a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these is never moved. Tehillim/Psalm 15

Learning about the Covenants ~ Covenant to Life

Photos credited to www.CovenanttoLife.com

These past few months we have been truly enjoying watching a series of online videos from Covenant to Life. These were shared with us from Sowers of Hope.  We've been reviewing and learning more of the biblical covenants through these videos.  These covenant series are made for children around twelve years of age and older to watch and to easily understand.

Each Covenant is explained with scripture reading and discussion among a group of at least two to three adults (and some times youth) at a reasonable pace.  The presentation for each of the series is wonderfully created with beautiful photos of YHVH/God's creation.

There are a series of questions that can be answered when covering the different covenants, questions such as:

1.  Who is the Covenant between?
2.  Who initiated the Covenant?
3.  What is the purpose of the Covenant?
4.  What (or who ) is the cutting and what (or who) is the cut off?

Some of the series you will see covered are:
  • Covenants of Noah
  • Covenants of Abraham
  • Abraham to Yitzhak
  • Yitzchak
  • Yacob
  • Yacob's Offspring

For a closer look at what the video series examines, please visit Scripture - A Closer Look.  To get you started, I'm including the first Introduction Video

Although our family may hold a few different beliefs in the understanding of some scriptures stated, I recommend these series.

YOGA Uncoiled

Exercise can come in many forms and has many benefits to the body YHVH/God has given us.  Staying healthy not only includes healthy eating habits, it also includes physical movement of the body.  Our family tries to exercise regularly.  Outside exercise, such as a good hike, weather permitting is obviously more enjoyable for me than being indoors. It is without saying though that we do use the Rebounder almost every day.  And rest on Shabbat, the seventh day.  I still hold on to the idea that good exericise comes from hard physical work around or outside of the house, whether it be house cleaning, yard work or other labor intense physical activity.

A while ago, someone shared a form of exercise which I had already given up due to the findings of it's pagan origins.  Another friend just recently shared these videos and I thought I would share them with you.  Have you ever wondered about the origins of Yoga?  Please watch this two part series where you will learn some insightful information.  Do we who are YHVH's children have the right to Christianize something not of Him?

Do you exercise?  If so, what kind of exercise do you and your family do?

And let endurance have a perfect work,
so that you be perfect and complete, lacking in naught.
James 1:4

Shabbat Shalom Link Up ~ Let Us Praise Him!

Pebble Crossing

We are glad you have joined us for Shabbat Shalom.  This link-Up is a place to share, encourage, and to bless each of you during this day of Shabbat rest. May this song be a blessing to you and your family.  May we praise our Heavenly Father continuously.

Praise Yah! Praise יהוה/the LORD from the heavens, Praise Him in the heights!
Praise Him, all His messengers; Praise Him, all His hosts!
Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all you stars of light!
Praise Him, heavens of heavens, And you waters above the heavens!
Let them praise the Name of יהוה/the LORD, For He commanded and they were created.
And He established them forever and ever, He gave a law and they pass not beyond.
Praise יהוה/the LORD from the earth, You great sea creatures and all the depths,
Fire and hail, snow and clouds, Stormy wind that does His word,
The mountains and all hills, Fruit tree and all cedars,
Wild beasts and all cattle, Creeping creatures and flying birds,
Sovereigns of the earth and all peoples, Rulers and all judges of the earth,
Both young men and maidens, Old men and children.
Let them praise the Name of יהוה, For His Name alone is exalted,
His splendour is above the earth and heavens.
He also lifts up the horn of His people, The praise of all His kind ones;
Of the children of Yisra’ĕl, A people near to Him. Praise Yah!
Tehillim.Psalm 148

Lentils with Salsa for Breakfast

Yes Lentils with Salsa for Breakfast sounds good to me. I love eating lentils no matter the time of day.  I even add some garbanzo beans along with some ground up flaxseed and apple cider vinegar.  Ok I know this doesn't sound like the typical breakfast eaten in the North American diet but it pleases me and my body to eat dish cold for my first meal of the day.

Hot oatmeal or even Red River Cereal (cracked wheat) was a staple at home during the winter months.  During the hot days, we would all pile on the healthier cold cereals (if there is such a thing as healthy prepackaged cereal) in a bowl with milk, or maybe enjoy some toast with jam.  Nowadays, although breakfast in our home varies depending on who is having it, you will find raw oatmeal available with fresh or thawed fruit along with raisins or dates along with almond milk; hard boiled eggs, eggs prepared in the cast iron pan, green smoothies or an 'all veggie smoothie'.  Lately though I find can start my day much better with legumes. Lentils are rich in protein and in cholesterol lowering fiber.  My blood sugar is easily regulated with no ups and downs since lentils have a special benefit in managing blood-sugar disorders due to their high fiber content which prevents blood sugar levels from rising quickly after eating.  My energy levels will last much longer eating a bowl of cold cooked Lentils with homemade salsa.

Chart from WHFoods.org

Now I know I'm not the only one who eats a similar breakfast.  So if you're one these people, I'd love if you'd share with Pebble Crossing's readers.

And take wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and spelt.
And you shall put them into one vessel, and make bread of them.
You shall eat it, as many days as you lie on your side, three hundred and ninety days.

Shabbat Shalom Link Up ~ Remember Your Inheritance

We are glad you have joined us for Shabbat Shalom.  This link-Up is a place to share, encourage, and to bless each of you during this day of Shabbat rest. And we couldn't do this without you all sharing your personal links.Scroll down below.

The media often seems to focus on situations which may not end on a positive note. And after time if we continue to believe all that we hear, watch or read, our attitude will follow our outlook and mood. We will make decisions based on our negative outlook due to incorrect perceptions pressed upon man. We need to continue to persevere however hard and bleak things may seem and focus on our inheritance and the promises our Creator has given us and not on what man tells us to be true. May you increase your prayers in those moments.  Let us continue to focus on 'LIFE' and not death. Let us continue to do YHVH's will so that he may find us doing His work when His son Yeshua returns.

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together,
against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son;
this day have I begotten thee.
Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance,
and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash
them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath
is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
Tehillim/Psalm 2

Dietary Supplement Labeling Act~How You Can Help

New Durbin Bill Imposes Needless New Regulations
The NPA issues a call to action to members and supporters

Ask your legislators to oppose Sen. Durbin's
Dietary Supplement Labeling Act of 2011 (S. 1310)

Dear Natural Products Supporter:

Please help in opposing yet another attempt in Congress to over-regulate the dietary supplement industry. The more regulation, the more your products will end up costing you.

Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) has introduced the Dietary Supplement Labeling Act of 2011 (S. 1310), which we believe would impose needless new regulations on supplement makers in an attempt to address the issue of manufacturers who mislabel their food and drink products as dietary supplements.

Among other provisions, the bill would direct the Department of Health and Human Services (presumably the Food and Drug Administration) to create a list of ingredients and proprietary blends of ingredients that “could cause potentially serious adverse events.” This overly broad language (no definition is offered of “could cause,” for example) takes the regulation of supplements well beyond the current, effective rules.

The bill also would direct the FDA to impose mandatory warning labels on ingredients the government decides are potentially harmful. There are no protections in the bill from the inevitable lawsuits that would follow.

NPA recognizes the intent of the bill is to halt the sale of food products that are masquerading as dietary supplements, and the association has repeatedly called on the FDA to use its existing authority to act against such rule breakers. Imposing additional regulations on the legitimate dietary supplement industry is neither an appropriate nor effective way to achieve this goal.

Please join us in urging Congress to oppose S.1310. Click here to send your letter to your lawmakers.

This information was taken from Natural Products Association (NPA).

Shabbat Shalom Link Up~I Have Taken Refuge

We are glad you have joined us for Shabbat Shalom.  This link-Up is a place to share, encourage, and to bless each of you during this day of Shabbat rest. And we couldn't do this without you all sharing your personal links.

In You, O יהוה/LORD, I have taken refuge; Let me never be ashamed.
In Your righteousness deliver and rescue me; Incline Your ear to me, and save me.
Be to me a rock to dwell in, To go into continually.
You have given the command to save me, For You are my rock and my stronghold.
Rescue me, O my Elohim/God, Out of the hand of the wrong,
Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel.
For You are my expectation, Master יהוה/GOD, my Trust from my youth.
Upon You I have leaned from my birth; You took me out of my mother’s womb.
My praise is continually of You.
I have become as a wonder to many, But You are my strong refuge.
My mouth is filled with Your praise, Your splendour, all the day.
Do not cast me off in the time of old age, When my strength fails, do not forsake me.
Saying, “Elohim/God has forsaken him;
Pursue and take him, for there is no one to deliver.”
O Elohim, do not be far from me; My Elohim.God, hasten to my help!
Let those who are adversaries of my life Be ashamed, consumed,
Let those who seek my evil Be covered with reproach and confusion.
But I continually wait, And shall praise You more and more.
My mouth recounts Your righteousness Your deliverance all the day,
Though I do not know their numbers.
I come in the might of the Master יהוה/GOD;
I make mention of Your righteousness, Yours alone.
Elohim/God, You have taught me from my youth;
And to this day I declare Your wonders.
And also when I am old and grey, O Elohim, do not forsake me,
Until I declare Your strength to a generation, Your might to all those who are to come.
For Your righteousness, O Elohim/God, is most high, You who have done great deeds.
O Elohim, who is like You?
You who have shown me great and evil distresses,
Revive me again and bring me up again
From the depths of the earth.
You increase my greatness, And comfort me on every side.
Also with the lyre I praise You For Your trustworthiness, O my Elohim!
I sing to You with the lyre, O Set-apart One of Yisra’ĕl.
My lips shout for joy when I sing to You, Even my being, which You have redeemed.
My tongue, too, utters Your righteousness all day long;
For those who have been seeking my evil Have been put to shame,
Have become abashed.
Tehillim/Psalm 71

Character Qualities of a Godly Woman

I was struck by this list of character qualities of a Godly woman. I will be rereading it again. What an inspiration for myself  and for other women to strive for.  This list is wonderful in preparing our daughter Leah who will one day be a wife and a keeper of her home, Yah willing.

1. She handles herself gracefully (Proverbs 11:16)
2. She loves and embraces children (Psalm 113:9, Titus 2:4)
3. She speaks with wisdom (Proverbs 31:26)
4. She has discretion (Proverbs 11:22)
5. She is able to be fully trusted by her husband (Proverbs 31:11)
6. She desires to be her husband’s most faithful companion and closest confidant (Malachi 2:14)
7. She joyfully embraces being a woman and abhors feminism (Psalm 113:9, Romans 12:9)
8. She can manage her home well (Proverbs 31:27, Titus 2:5, 1 Tim 5:14)
9. She is diligent to accomplish anything entrusted to her care (Proverbs 31:13, 1 Tim 5:10)
10. She is firm in her convictions and desires to teach younger women the virtues of godly
womanhood through her example and instruction. (Titus 2:4)
11. She desires for, and encourages men to be leaders in their families, churches and society. (Isaiah 3:12, Eph. 5:23, Titus 1:5-6)
12. She desires to build up and strengthen her home (Proverbs 14:1)
13. She desires to raise and train the next president, not BE the next president (Proverbs 31:1, Isaiah 3:12)

A woman such as this is priceless: her value is far above rubies. Her husband will exalt her, praise her, love her, give up his life for her, and her children will call her blessed. The man that finds such a woman, is truly undeserving of such an honor, as God has bestowed upon him a blessing only few will find.

"So my roommates asked me to describe what a godly woman looks like, so I pondered that for quite some time and then thought I’d share my answer with you all" ~ This was written by a young man, Luke Otterstad,
